Non-Government Organizations called NGOs. NGOs are usually non-profitable. NGO is a non-government organization which works for social welfare. NGO runs by volunteers. If there is a group of people who want to help and work socially can easily start an NGO. They can work with registration or without registration also. But if you are working in a registered NGO you can get funding by Govt and other organizations. If there is an NGO who can work without any help, it can work for social welfare without registration. But a registered NGO has a different identity.

Non Profit Organizations in India

In India three types of NGOs are working: 1. Society 2. Trust 3. Company under section-25

1. What is society? Society is also an NGO which register under the act of 1860. It can be registered by 2 types 1. State level (For work on state level only) and 2. National Level (It works for the whole country) it takes almost 1-2 months in registration.

2. What is Trust? Trust is also an NGO. It registers under the Indian Trust Act/Bombay Trust Act/Devsthan Trust Act. There are 2 people are the minimum needed to start this.

3. What is Company? The non-profitable company is an NGO. It registers under the company act.

NGOs works in humanitarian, healthcare, educational, social, public policy, human rights, environmental and other areas to affect changes according to their objectives. NGOs are generally funded by donations. Some NGOs are highly professionalized and rely mainly on paid staff. Other have voluntary labor and are less formalized. All the people are not working as a volunteer for non-government organizations.

Many NGOs required funding or budget to operate it whether it is small or a large NGO. The money that needed, depends on multiple things including the size of the operation and the services provided. Large NGOs may have the annual budget in the hundreds of millions or billions of dollars.

World NGO Day: 27th February is observed as a World NGO Day. It was officially declared on 17th April 2010 by 12 countries of the IX Baltic sea NGO Forum to the 8th summit of the Baltic Sea states in Vilnius, Lithuania. The world NGO day was internationally recognized on 28 February 2014.

The term "non-governmental organization" was first coined in 1945, when the united countries were created.
